The Blackdown Hills span the Somerset–Devon border, forming a rich and varied landscape of steep ridges, ancient woodlands, winding river valleys and natural springs. This mosaic of habitats supports a wide range of plant and animal life, offering a quintessential example of the English countryside. With its inviting scenery, the area is perfect for exploring on foot along its many trails or by cycling through its gently winding country lanes.

The Blackdown Hills were given the title of Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1991.
