Kirsten Elswood explores the atmosphere, emotion and movement of the natural world through expressive landscape paintings inspired by shifting light and dramatic skies. Her work captures fleeting moments, from sunlight breaking through clouds and changing weather to the quiet energy found in forests, fields and open horizons.

Working intuitively with colour, texture and layered brushwork, Kirsten creates nature-inspired paintings that balance realism with emotion, inviting viewers into her landscapes to pause and reconnect with nature’s rhythms. The ever-changing sky is a recurring focus within her work, symbolising movement and stillness, permanence and transformation.

Her paintings are rooted in a strong sense of place within the British landscape, and she is fascinated by how light can completely alter a landscape’s mood from one moment to the next. These emotionally charged moments are at the heart of her work. Through her paintings, she aims to create immersive landscapes that feel both familiar and deeply personal.
